Making a Difference…..One Person At a Time.

What is VICaP Faith in Action?

VICaP Faith in Action is a interfaith program of Beatitudes Center DOAR that provides free informal support services to the homebound elderly and/or disabled adults over the age of 18 and to family caregivers. Volunteers from our community and the wider community are trained, supervised, and insured.

Since January 2007 St Thomas More Parish has been partnered with the VICaP  Faith In Action Program.  Our Volunteers come from all walks of life. If you have one hour a week to offer; your presence to one of your neighbors can make a world of difference. You will be able to choose the service(s) you wish to provide, the number of people to serve and the area in which to serve. The most requested services are transportation and grocery chopping. Because of the flexibility in the program it is a great opportunity for working people and families. The need throughout the west valley is growing. In some areas neighbors are still waiting to be matched with a volunteer who hears the call of Christ to love one another as I have lived you.  We presently have ten parishioners who have come forward to be a part of this ministry and we would be blessed to add you to the list.

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone who is interested in helping the elderly of disabled may volunteer. Volunteers are recruited through local partner congregations and parishes and the wider community. Volunteers choose the service(s) they wish to provide, number of people to serve, and the area of town in which to serve (matching is done by zip code). Because of the flexibility for this program, it is a great opportunity for working people and for families to help others.

How Do I get started?

Anyone considering volunteering attends a volunteer orientation. Call the VICap office 203-285-0543 or visit their website www.certerdoar.org for more details about the next volunteer orientation.
