As with all sacrament preparation processes, it is separate from and in addition to regular Faith Formation.  First Reconciliation is normally celebrated in the second grade following one year of prior Catholic faith formation usually in the first grade.  Children who are out of sequence (children with no prior Faith Formation in second grade and above) completes one year of Catholic faith formation the first year enrolled in the Christian Formation program and in the second year prepares for First Reconciliation while continuing in their grade level faith formation.
